Searcys Call

I stand upon the shore in darkness, the waves roll soft upon my feet.
I look across the open ocean, endeavoring to see.
Out upon the horizon, a tiny speck of light, souls swiftly sailing,
into the dark of night.

Where will they go? What will they see? These wanderers upon
the sea? The soft breeze whispers, "adventure," as the wind calls out to me.

Come to me, the voice beguiles. I can set you free. But what I hear is
Searcys voice, a deceiver of seaman is she. Leading men to leave
the shore and sail the darkening waves.

Upon the horizon, I look again, the light it has departed.
Following the song of Searcys call, to what end only she can see.
But I know within my soul, for good it cannot be.

Fading softly on the wind, Searcy whispers still, but I turn away
and leave the shore, slowly walk away. Thinking maybe another time...
But she'll not have me today.

    1. Searcy is a beautiful 'mythical goddess' who creates mischief for seaman at sea.
