That Ole Horse

I first rode that ole horse, when I was thirteen.
Thought I was a cowboy, but man was I green.
She bucked and she bounced and twisted me round,
I was, a cowboy, but one on the ground.

That ole horse was sure smarter than me. She was 28,
I was thirteen. She was good as could be, with oats in
my hand, but one heck of a bronc, when she got mean.

Little by little and in some time, we got acquainted that
ole horse of mine. She taught me respect and certainly
earned mine. That's what makes the cowboy kind.

Thats been many, many years ago it seems.
But I'll not forget that ole horse she taught me some
things. Respect Gods creatures and show them a friend,
Then they will quite draggin you all over that pen.

I'm all grown up now and Miss Penny is gone. She roamin
the range of a celestial home. But I'll never forget as she once nuzzled
my hand. Thank you "Miss Penny" you helped a boy become a
man.
