If The Falls Could Talk - Burney Falls, California (A place I love)

I have been here since antiquity. Before humanity came my way. Flowing gently on my established course, sifting grains of time away. I have seen the seasons come and go, felt the sun, the rain and snow. Through it all, I meander along, watching nature grow.
The birds, the chipmunks, all the wild things, drink from my pristine flow. I love it when they press their nose into the water below. I find pleasure in the Summer sun, it never gets to hot. I love the Winter too, when the snow lies atop. For millennia there were no men, only the wild things of the wood. Then one day into my glass a brown creature stood. Unlike the others in the wood on two legs he did stand. He was the first of his kind that I had ever seen, I knew within my wondrous knowledge, I had met a man. I guess we were both surprised. As we looked till I turned green. He in turn, ran away to return soon once again.
Then one day he brought his family, to look into my eyes. The little creatures they carried, laughed and danced and cried. Splashing, jumping, plunging, into my frigid face. My flow ever increased as I enjoyed, the pleasure in their embrace
Time has passed the brown men gone, white men have stolen their land. Now they come and traipse around leaving litter in my flow. They do not know that their irresponsibility will hamper the wild growth. I see less and less of the wild creatures now. They have fled to higher places. Even there on occasion, you will still see those white faces.
Men, women, children, of every kind; kindred nation and tongue, have stopped by and snapped my face. With their funny little boxes, trying to capture time and space. If only they could understand, I never stay the same. I am ever changing, with the sifting of the sands, moving beyond time and man. I follow the path Creation laid and move along with grace; wishing I could see once more the brown young happy face.

  3. I didn't think you missed the mark....I could feel and hear the spray from the falls as I read. Your writing causes the reader to be carried away by imagination and directly into the photo. Another exceptional writing by an amazing author. Wonderful!
