Lights and Snow

Colored lights, all aglow. Glittering off the plastic snow. Air filled snowmen on roofs and lawns, pretending to be, something their not. Ice sickles hanging all aglow. But alas, no real water, no real snow. Just another winter facade, something to fill the shopping malls.
The real meaning of Christmas, is not in show. It's touching people with a positive glow. Love and warmth, feelings of joy. A little time spent with a crippled boy. A little girl, who has no mom. Surely deserves a heartfelt hug. Maybe a family that's lost their home. They could surely use, a bed tonight. Some warm food to make their spirits light.
Is this what Christmas is all about? As for me, I surely doubt, it could be for no other reason than to shed kindness about the season.
Its not trees, candy or Santy. Its not about lights, snow or even Steven or little Mandy. I'm sure they received enough all year long. To last them at least till their almost grown.
Christmas is giving, of Christ and his mercy, his kindness, compassion, gentleness and love. To receive from others what we feel is unjust. Accept it quietly, without a fuss.
To go, show, live and love. To honor the King with our all that we have. Not silver or gold. But a smile wouldn't be bad. So, let us go forth with abated breath and touch those around us, with peace, joy and respect. And while we'r out mingling with the masses, lets toast each other, with a clink of our glasses.   Joyeux Noël. ¡Feliz Navidad. Merry Christmas!
