I awake to the smell of strong, hot coffee, telling me it's time to arise. I loose myself from the warm blankets of night and crawl from the safety of my bed. I trip the heat, for just awhile, to push the cold away. Then I dress as warmly as I can; to head out and face the day.
I leave the house, the sky is dark; only one little sliver of moonlight. It brightens the night with little light; enough to hide the stars. The car is warm, already started, by a gentle hand. My coffee buddy, has come out in the cold to be, a kind and helpful friend.
As I drive to face my little braves, who have made their way to school. A new treat for me, will be to meet them all and treat them like my little "grands," whom I miss with such intensity. But that's the way my life now stands.
